I want a water nymph summer

On not chasing the numbers

Hello Undines,

It's been a month since I published the first Alderwood Wedding romance, and I've been off Instagram. Even though I want to sell my books, I don’t want to keep up with trends or live plastered to a screen.

In fact I'm tired. I want a water nymph summer.

What is a water nymph summer, you ask? Well, according to my highly academic definition, it looks like this...

Spending languid days in the water, swimming in cool streams and wearing bubbles like pearl necklaces.

Reading romances in the arms of a tree.

Dreaming up stories to write.

Dancing under the full moon.

Water nymphs, in my imagination (which is very very loosely based on Greek myth, so bear with me) are untamable creatures. Humans might try to control them, but can't. They are forces of nature. Water nymphs, like their element, can be destructive and life-giving, gentle and overpowering. Mystifying embodiments of the both/and.

(Undines are based on a different set of stories, loosely related to water nymphs but not the same. More on this at a later date.)

I want to drink tea and imagine a good future for everyone.

I want to have a small cozy life full of books & sex.

I want to transform rage into a better world.

I don’t want to constantly fight the algorithm.

I want a water nymph summer–full of romance, luxury, and a little positive chaos.

What about you?

Thanks for being here, and happy reading!

P.S. I'd still love to hear what kind of romance you want me to share in these Undine letters. Don't be shy! Take the short poll

P.P.S. Alderwood Wedding is finally available everywhere, but with one exception: Spell (#3) isn't available on B&N. Or, it is available, but the cover is wrong (hilariously so). I've emailed them, and hopefully we'll get this fixed soon.

Book Deals- I have two books for you today! While I haven't read the first one, I have read One Page, One Love and can tell you that if you love quick, diverse romance reads, this anthology is for you.

Princess Maeve Moran’s wedding day was supposed to be a day she had dreamed of. When a violent coup breaks out in the capital city, her life is turned upside down as she witnesses the murder of her father, The King, her mother, her brother, Heir to the Throne, and her fiancé, Rian Doherty.

Stripped of her magic and left for dead, Maeve is rescued by Dedra Blos, a royal seamstress, and Tiernan Demaris, an army alchemist. Determined to recapture all she has lost, Maeve vows revenge against the usurpers who stole all but the breath from her lungs.

Can she make it through with her head—and her heart—to retrieve all she has lost and restore her place in the castle once more? Or will the price of love and secrets cost more than death ever could?

One Page, One Love is a flash fiction romance anthology celebrating the power of love in all its forms, one page at a time. This collection brings together a diverse array of love stories, with some told in a single page and others in just a few, ranging from heartwarming and passionate to laugh-out-loud funny.

a quote from our favorite water spirit, Rodan And the winners are... Hello Undines, Let's get right to it: last month I asked for your name and country of residence to be entered into the Crystalline giveaway, and here are the winners! USA paperback winners: Lalita Creighton & Linda Rorex Worldwide ebook winner: Sally Childs Woohoo! Confetti, champagne, and balloons all around! And yes, I chose two paperback winners. A thank you gift Hello Undines, I truly never know when my brain will decide to finish some stories. For example: at the end of last month, I suddenly finished my rewrite of AW Night and re-uploaded it to all my platforms. Ta-da! So, did I bring it down from 2 peppers to 1? Not really. 1/5 peppers, maybe. The story decided to stay in the midrange of steam levels for the series. But I did add Carina and Trevelyon's meeting at the start of the book, plus a few other updates. And for today, you...

this could be in a haunted house, right? (Unsplash) Time for the haunted past!! Hello Undines, I don't know about you, but this is my favorite time of year. Halloween, fall colors, cooler/cold weather, moody fog and cloudy skies: this is where I thrive. There's something quiet and cozy about autumn, but also a little unsettling. We might celebrate those who have gone before us and remember our own mortality. We might have to reckon with the past and how it didn't always happen the way we were...
